You likely recognize emerging model Alice McNally from Instagram, though posts on her own page are few and far between. She’s a frequent fixture on her clients’ grids —SKIMS, Eckhaus Latta, HommeGirls, raimundo langlois, and Los Angeles Apparel, to name just a few — as well as on her dad’s. She’s the youngest daughter of iconic downtown restaurateur and rabble-rouser Keith McNally, whose penchant for posting is a trait she did not inherit. While models are expected to have large follower counts in order to book jobs, the 20-year-old is largely offline, and is flouting the rules of modern fame to become one of the most in-demand faces in New York. After all, who doesn’t love a little mystery?
Earlier this month, I had the pleasure of getting to know Alice for a profile that’s now live on SSENSE, complete with insights from Keith, her team at No Agency, and photographer Richard Kern. We talked about her growing up between New York, London, and Hawaii; how she got scouted; her time in military school; career advice she got from Anna Wintour as a teenager; frequenting her dad’s revered establishments including Balthazar, Pastis, Morandi, The Odeon (which is now owned by his first ex-wife), and Minetta Tavern, where the shoot took place, plus much more.
